Delete your AluNet account

AluNet is developed and operated by AluNet, Netherlands. This page explains how to request deletion of your AluNet account and what happens to your data when you do.

Delete your account in the app

This is the fastest way, and it does not require you to contact us.

Open the AluNet app and go to your profile tab.
Open Settings.
Tap Delete account.
Confirm. Your account and profile are removed immediately.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have access to the app or to your device, email alunetapp@gmail.com from the email address registered to your AluNet account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will verify that the request comes from you and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

All personal data associated with your account is deleted:

Your name and display name, and your email address
Your profile photo, bio and any optional profile fields
Your university and exchange affiliations, graduation year and work information
Your city or country of residence
Every trip you have added, and your full trip history
Your connections and friend requests
Your app settings and notification preferences

Your profile stops being visible to other users immediately. Your data is erased from our active systems within 30 days and from encrypted backups within a further 90 days. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What is kept, and for how long

Security and technical logs

Logs used for security and fraud prevention, including IP addresses recorded at sign-in, are kept for up to 12 months from collection and then deleted.

Messages in group chats

Messages you sent in a group chat may remain visible to the other participants as part of their own conversation history. They are shown without your name, photo or profile link.

Anonymous aggregated statistics

Figures that cannot be linked to you or to any individual — for example the total number of AluNet users in a country — may be kept indefinitely.

Legally required records

Records we are required to keep by applicable Dutch or EU law are kept only for the period that law requires, and are then deleted.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove data. In the app you can delete individual trips and clear optional profile fields at any time. If you want other specific data removed while keeping your account, email alunetapp@gmail.com and we will action the request.
